El pasado 31 de Julio y 1° de Agosto en las instalaciones de la UVM se llevó a cabo ,gracias a TocToc, el taller de tipografía experimental Typolab, impartida por el maestro y tipógrafo Manuel Guerrero ante un grupo conformado por diseñadores gráficos e industriales. Aquí el recuento de los daños…>>

Durante el fin de semana del sábado 31/Julio y el domingo 1/Ago se llevará a cabo un laboratorio de tipografía experimental dentro de las aulas de la UVM Campus Cumbres dirigido a todas las personas interesadas en esta área. Se dispondrá de un espacio adecuado para las actividades y tendrá un horario de 10 am – 6 pm.

El laboratorio será impartido por Manuel Guerrero Salinas quien es un diseñador gráfico de nacionalidad mexicana egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. Actualmente es catedrático en la de la Facultad del Hábitat y trabaja como freelance en Bluetypo, estudio de diseño especializado en tipografía y comunicación interactiva.

En el año 2009 obtuvo el certificado de excelencia en diseño tipográfico otorgado por el Type Directors Club y fue nominado para recibir el Prize of Prizes Design Award; la máxima distinción al diseño otorgada por el gobierno Alemán. Su trabajo se ha dado a conocer en diferentes publicaciones, entre las que destaca el Fontfeed, I love typography, Unos tipos duros, Typography 30, Typodarium 2010, la Revista Digital Arts y Page magazine.

The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is the country‘s highest distinction in the field of design. It is known as the »Prize of Prizes«. The reason: no other design award sets such strict criteria on entries. Thus, a company can only enter the competition for the Design Award if its product has already been awarded a national or international design prize. Another precondition for entry is that companies must have been nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Der Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland ist die höchste offizielle deutsche Auszeichnung im Bereich Design. Er wird als »Preis der Preise« bezeichnet, denn kein anderer Designpreis stellt ähnlich hohe Anforderungen an seine Teilnehmer. So kann ein Unternehmen nur dann am Wettbewerb um den Designpreis teilnehmen, wenn sein Produkt bereits national oder international ausgezeichnet wurde. Eine weitere Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme ist die Nominierung durch die Wirtschaftsministerien und -senatoren der Länder bzw. durch das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie.

VICEVERSA. Es una convocatoria que tiene la finalidad de llevar a cabo un ejercicio de diseño mediante la elaboración de carteles que resuman la obra de Mario Benedetti. Es un homenaje póstumo a un gran escritor y poeta uruguayo.

Especificaciones:
1. Formato vertical con medida de 1,30 x 85 cms.
2. La técnica utilizada es libre
3. El cartel debe incluir el nombre de la convocatoria “VICEVERSA” y la siguiente frase: “Mueren los hombres, viven sus letras” Mario Benedetti (1920-2009)
4. El cartel debe ser diseñado específicamente para esta convocatoria.
5. El archivo digital debe ser en formato JPG, al tamaño, con una resolución de 200 dpi.
6. Cada participante se compromete a costear la impresión de su cartel. (La impresión en lona cuesta $130 pieza)
7. La fecha limite de entrega del archivo es el 10 de julio del 2009 en el Área Estética de la Facultad del Hábitat, o por correo electrónico a la siguiente dirección: benedetti@bluetypo.com

Great news about OPTICA.
Well I have received a letter from the German design council to tell the font OPTICA is nominated to receive the “Prize of Prizes” and I’m so surprised and happy too. I think that only be nominated is a great distinction from Germany.

“OPTICA Normal is the most insane type design I’ve seen in a very, very long time, pos­si­bly ever. I don’t know whether to love or hate it – I get both a split­ting headache and the gig­gles trying to figure out the words. Yet the fact that this actu­ally hap­pens makes me admire it even more. The type­face con­sists of geo­met­ric char­ac­ters cre­ated by flip­ping the slant in a fixed pat­tern of diag­o­nal lines. This optic game cre­ates almost sub­lim­i­nal word images within the pat­tern tex­ture. The­o­ret­i­cally those should become leg­i­ble by analysing the line direc­tions, but frankly when trying that it only becomes worse. I per­son­ally found the best way is to relax the eyes and let them go slightly out of focus, because if you try to hard you just go com­pletely bonkers…”
