Anounced the winners of the TDC2 2009 (Type Design Competition) and OPTICA Normal was one of the selected typefaces. This year there were 165 entries from 26 different countries resulting in 18 winning entries representing 8 countries. The jury, chaired by Fiona Ross, included Ken Barber (House Industries); Jonathan Hoefler (Hoefler & Frere-Jones); Richard Kegler (P22 Type Foundry), and Gabriel Martinez (Meave, Kimera Type Foundry, Mexico).

Countries: Netherlands, USA, Mexico, Portugal, Argentina, France, Germany, New Zealand.

   Die Schrift ähnelt 1:1 einer Arbeit von mir: ich selber habe exakt diese darstellung bereits 2007 (!!) verwendet und für eine öffentliche Veranstaltung entworfen.
   Scheint ja auch in der ferne gut angekommen zu sein
   ein bisschen ärgert es aber schon!

Is very interesting how people from different places do similar things in the same periods. Do you think so?
